[Isotonic] [pH = 5.0, 308 mOsm/L.  Ahhhh - Here’s a nice happy place…  NS increases plasma volume while maintains serum osmolality.  Ideally does not change the concentration of sodium ions, but to much can lead to hypernatremic/chloremic metabolic acidosis.  Also, as volume increases, proteins and RBCs will be diluted, causing pulmonary edema due to the resulting decrease in osmotic pressure.  Ye dig?
