3% NaCl:
[Hypertonic]
Has 512 mEq of NaCl per liter! 1026 mOsm/L. Given
to increase volume AND serum sodium. If
serum sodium is increased too fast, interstitial potassium will be driven into
the cells, and cause an immediate state of hypokalemia (this is bad).
