Leadership: Theory and Practice - Peter G. Northouse (2004, 3rd ed.)
I have had this book for some time, but a couple of friends borrowed and I just recently got it back. After reviewing it, I can see why they read it and passed it on for it is perhaps one of the best books on the theories of leadership. And it does not stop there as it also goes into quite a bit of depth about applying leadership. It would work not only in the academic world as a text book, but also for an individual or organization handbook.
