Predator 2 DVD Review by Gareth Von Kallenbach

Following on the success of the Special Edition release of “Predator”, Fox has released an impressive 2-DVD set for “Predator 2” that is sure to delight fans.

The film stars Danny Glover as officer Mike Harrigan who heads a special unit in gang war ravenged L.A. A series of bizarre and gruesome murders at first is dismissed as a conflict between gangs soon escalates causing Mike and his partner Danny (Ruben Blades), to realize that there is a new player in town.

The new player is in fact a Predator, (Kevin Peter Hall), who has come to Earth to hunt and collect trophies naturally with Humans as the target. As the bodies mount, Mike and his team run afoul of an F.B.I. task force headed by Peter Keyes (Gary Busey), who is secretly tracking the Predator and attempting to keep his existence secret. The deadly conflict soon escalates into all out war with the very future of the city hanging in the balance thanks to the Predators lethal array of weapons, and devastating self-destruct weapon.

While not as good as the first Predator film, Director Stephen Hopkins keeps the film moving and solid supporting work from Bill Paxston and Garey Busey keeps the action moving. While Glover does solid work, his character is not as charismatic as that Schwarzenegger’s in the previous film. That being said, the action is solid as are the FX. The abundance of bonus material on this collection makes this a must own for fans of the series as well as fans of sci fi and action.
