L Located on the gorgeous waterfront in downtown Vancouver B.C. The Pan Pacific hotel has long been a favored destination for business travelers, conferences and vacationers to this scenic city.

I have stayed at many of the top hotels the world has to offer, but I was swept away by the elegance of the Pan Pacific shortly after walking through the front doors. The spacious conference area was in full swing, as large crowds of people were proceeding through a security checkpoint to the function within. The layout of the facility allowed for a very large crowd to queue on one side of the hotel, while the other side of the hotel maintained a very spacious and easy flow to the elevators and to the escalators to the shopping level and the receptionist desk.

The check in went very smoothly and the staff was very helpful without being snobby as is often the case in hotels of high standing. I appreciated the fact that I was able to have my questions answered, check in, and be in my room in less than 5 minutes from when I approached the counter.

Upon arriving at the room, I was amazed at not only the stunning view of the water and mountains, but by the sheer size and layout of the room. Not only were there two bathrooms, but also there was a separate tub, and shower in the master bathroom. The living room had a full-sized desk, a living room table, two couches, and an entertainment center complete with a cd player and a selection of classical music. The real treat was the bedroom that had its own television, ample closets, as well as an in room sink. I had only a few moments to take in the room, as a pressing schedule required me to run some errands downtown prior to returning to the hotel.

I returned to the room not two hours later to find that a full turndown service had been preformed, complete with a robe and slippers being prepared on the bed. I had a relaxing dinner in the room, and then decided to try some of the spa facilities that the hotel offers. A few moments later I was enjoying a very warm out door hot tub adjacent to a heated outdoor pool on the eighth floor terrace. The view from the tub was easily the best view I had enjoyed from a hotel tub as the lights of the city as well as the passing boats allowed me to truly relax, and get away from the troubles of life.

While I spent the rest of the evening enjoying the room and watching television, I found the bed to be very comfortable as there was none of the usual adjustment to a new bed, and I was able to sleep very soundly.

Sunday morning was just what the doctor ordered, as I was able to relax in the room with in-room coffee and watch television to catch up on the news of the day. In most hotels, maid service is attempting to get into the room around 9 Am, but the Pan Pacific staff let me relax and start the day when I was ready. With a Noon checkout, I was overjoyed that I was able to relax and enjoy my morning without feeling rushed.

Checkout was like everything else, very easy and relaxed and was as friendly and efficient as everything that I experienced during my stay at the Pan Pacific Vancouver. My only regret was that I did not have more time to fully take advantage of the numerous features the hotel offers from a full service spa and exercise room, to business services and a dazzling array of dining opportunities. That being said, the Pan Pacific Vancouver is a rare mix these days, a full-service hotel, that is ideal for business, yet is perfect for weekend getaways where you can do things at your own pace with the knowledge that the helpful staff and abundant services are there when you need it. Top marks all around.
