The third season DVD of the classic comedy series “Married with Children” is here and it follows up the success of the previous sets. The set is packaged in an attractive collectors box and contains all 22 episodes of the third season uncut. The show follows the misadventures of the Bundy family who are the picture of dysfunction. Family patriarch Al (Ed O’Neil) toils away in a low paying shoe store while his wife Peggy (Katey Sagal), loafs on the couch watching television and spending Al’s money. Peggy will not work or do any household work such as cleaning, shopping, and cooking, which often forces Al to take extreme measure to get by. Add to this mix the scheming Bundy children and the annoying neighbors the Rhodes, and you get a recipe for laughs as everyday situations spiral out of control in true Bundy fashion. Highlights of the season include the infamous lost episode that was not aired over content concerns, Al Bundy facing a childhood nemesis in the old school library as he attempts to return the worlds most overdue library book. There is also a classic segment where Peggy Bundy instructs the career women in the advantages of her lifestyle. ,P> While the series was very controversial during its 11-season run, it produced many laughs and earned itself a place in TV history. The bawdy and irreverent tone of the show changed the face of TV forever and always left you laughing week in and week out. While the episodes are the main draw of the set, the attractive menus and behind the scenes features such as Easter Eggs and cast interviews ensure that this volume is a must for fans and collectors alike The theme music is different this time out as a reported conflict over licensing fees for the theme song resulted in the inclusion of a brand new theme that was written for the show. That being said, the laughs are as good as they ever were as we can all take joy that we were not born Bundy. 5 stars out of 5
