Prayer time

Journal writing (What do I feel, what do I need, what am I grateful for)

Meditation (with focus on breath)

Self-hypnosis (with some guided imagery)

Singing

Listening to soothing music

Playing an instrument

Practicing a favorite craft (i.e., needle point, quilting, embroidery)

Taking a walk (being aware of footsteps and surroundings)

Taking a bubble bath (with music, candles, etc.)

Gardening

Writing poetry

Yoga / Exercise / Running

Hot tub

Visualizing a favorite, most relaxing place, or flying, or yourself as a child being held and comforted

Sitting in the warm sun (inside or outside)

Playing with my dog (or cat, or hamster)

Reading something fun

Window shopping

Writing a letter to a friend or calling a friend

Foot massage or body massage

Coloring, drawing, sketching

Napping

Reading affirmations or inspirational material

Reading spiritual material

Remembering the "bigger picture" and saying comforting and reassuring things about that (For example, it is OK, everything changes, life is a journey, what does this matter in the vastness of the universe).

Practice taking charge of self talk and using the language of encouragement with self and others (For example, acknowledging effort, improvement, contribution, appreciation, humanness and giving permission to make mistakes).
