Survival Systems, Ltd. was founded in 1971 by Officer McKinney and a partner as a Police Officer Survival and Tactical training school. At the time, the term "COMBAT" was almost foreign to police departments and the LAPD was still teaching one-handed revolver shooting at circular "bulls-eye" targets at 25 yards. As very few firearms self-defense classes were available in 1971, the company quickly attracted security professionals and civilians as clients. The company continued to instruct in the southern California area until the founder's retirement from LAPD and subsequent relocation to Washington state.
The company has taught and will continue to teach all military and police style techniques and firearms,
including fully automatic (machineguns) and suppressed (silenced) firearms in those locales that they are legal and legally titled.
The goal of Survival Systems, Ltd. is to bring military and police level firearms training to qualified civilians, security professionals, and law enforcement agencies at a reasonable cost.
Survival Systems, Ltd. is listed in the news media's contact book, "The Yearbook of Experts, Authorities and Spokespersons" under Firearms Instructor.
LIABILITY, DOCUMENTATION & CONFIDENTIALITY

A good instructor must not only be extremely knowledgeable, they must be able to convey this information to the student. They MUST THEN be able to document WHAT the student was taught and WHY they were taught in this exact manner. A copy of all student's class notes and handouts are kept by our company in the unfortunate event that our student must use ANY level of force against an opponent and must defend
themselves in a criminal or civil court. This will assist the student in proving their level of knowledge and
skill. We CANNOT POSSIBLY OVERSTATE the importance of a student's RECENT training level that
has been properly documented. This is ESPECIALLY TRUE for anyone that carries a gun or has one
readily available for defense at their home or business.
This is why we offer a great rate on our yearly four hour combined classroom and range requalification class.
All of our student's informational files are absolutely CONFIDENTIAL and will not be released without
either a written authorization from the student or a court subpoena. Your name and address will NOT be
traded or sold unless you tell us you wish to be on someone else's mailing list.

1. Students are to pre-register and pay in advance. Walk-in students, properly documented, are welcome,
but must arrive at least 1/2 hour early to complete all paperwork. This eliminates cutting into class time.
2. Students MUST present a copy (preferably enlarged) of their State Drivers License or I.D. Card. Original I.D. will be checked at class. There are absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule. We don't teach
unidentified students.
3. Students must sign all liability waivers. Again, no exceptions to this policy.
4. Students are to note requirements for each class and arrive ON TIME with the proper equipment and
credentials.
5. Students are to be dressed as we suggest.
6. Students MUST follow ALL safety rules and instructor's directives or risk expulsion from the class
without refund.

The following discounts apply to ALL classes given by Survival Systems, Ltd. At these low prices there are no refunds, but, if one or more of your group can't make one class, they can take it later at that rate or apply it to any other class. Special "professional courtesy" discounts are available for documented public safety personnel and their immediate families. Non-shooting classes can usually be taught at your location. All classes are open to students 18 years of age or older. Younger students to age 13 may attend, but MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Remember, however, ADULT topics are covered and may not be suitable for your teenager. Both adult and teen are charged at full rates.
Survival Systems, Ltd. does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin, sex or
sexuality. We will NOT, however, teach anyone who we feel is dedicated to sedition or that would deprive
another American's Constitutional rights without cause.
Reasonable accommodations are provided for our physically disabled clients. Let us know your
requirements. We also honor SOME other instructor's certificates on our advanced classes. Documentation must be provided prior to registration.
Ammunition for indoor range shooting must be all lead, preferably coated or plated, or full metal jacket for
auto pistols. Hollowpoints have a nasty habit of kicking back pieces of jacket at the shooters and will usually not be allowed. Besides, they're too expensive for practice.
Students are not allowed to film, tape record or photograph classes. They may, however, take all the notes
they want. Upon registration, a full detail sheet on the class and other specifics will be available. Personalized instruction is available to meet every need. We also do site-specific analysis for defense of your home, business, retreat, boat or vehicle. We welcome your inquiries.

on-call, plus travel and lodging expenses.
