WELCOME TO BOEING FIELD!!

A place where things can get pretty busy at certain times of the day, especially during the Summer months. Not to fear. Some of the FAA's best are manning the Control Tower!!

Due to the airport's proximity to Seattle - Tacoma, the TCA is a consideration. There are published arrival and departure routes to assist pilots in navigating to and from BFI. Please review the information in the links below prior to your arrival of departure. The tower may ask you to make a Vashon Departure, or an XYZ arrival. It's diagramed in one of the links below (the Boeing Field Flyer.)

I've noticed that during the Summer months, almost without fail, a pilot will want to depart, be given instructions by the tower regarding a departure procedure, and the pilot will reply that he/she is unfamiliar with it. It consumes a LOT of the controller's time in walking the pilot through the respective procedure. It's time that the controller doesn't have. Again, please review the links, and print out what you feel you need.

And whatever you do, don't let the above deter you from visiting. I don't think there's anything that any pilot could do that hasn't been seen here before. It's an excellent airport, well run, excellent facilities, and close to the heart of Seattle. Happy landings!!

Please note that the photo's on this page are from various sources. We get a lot of different aircraft here. There is some scheduled regional service (Part 135,) but none of the major airlines serve BFI as of this writing. (If you look up after climbing out of your aircraft, you'll see them overhead approaching/departing Sea-Tac.)
