Channel 28. The channel should be kept more timely. Also, the city might tape council meetings and air them there. The public station might also be made available for young people to prepare videos and air them on this channel. Other city activities might be taped and publicized as well on the public service channel.

City swap meet. An annual "yard sale" or swap meet at the city park.

Semis on Milwaukee Boulevard. The street was not excavated deeply enough to sustain heavy truck traffic, and they should be discouraged from traveling on this street.

Auction site on Third Avenue West. Perhaps something can be done so that food that is purchased there from vendors doesn't result in trash where the bike trail meets Third.

Free cinema. The Fremont District in Seattle shows free outdoor movies. Mark would like to see that tried at Pacific City Park.

Citizen/Candlelighter of the month. Recognizing individuals for community service.

History markers. Establishing markers in the city to highlight locations of particular historic importance.

River footbridge/walking trails. Pacific has a natural amenity -- a river. Auburn and Renton have developed walking paths adjacent to their rivers. Pacific could have such paths and a footbridge over the river to serve as a safe path for youngsters heading to nearby schools.

Legal clinic. For the benefit of Pacific residents.

Ballroom Dance program. This was begun in April. Classes are held Tuesday evenings, and a community dance is held the second Friday of each month, from 8 to 11 p.m.

Milwaukee Main Street Proposal. This was proposed for the portion of Milwaukee Street from Ellingson Road to Third Avenue South. A Sunday walking survey of half the households found 100% opposition to the rezoning of Milwaukee to a business district.

City kiosk. Communication within the City of Pacific is hamstrung by lack of regular media. Creation of an on-the-street kiosk where citizens can post handbills would improve the opportunity to communicate and the access to public communication. A kiosk could be a simple metal frame with soft wood boards which thumb tacks or staples can easily penetrate. This could be located close to the bus stop at Third Avenue South and Milwaukee.

Holiday lighting. There are enough people who arrange extensive lighting displays in Pacific for a coordinated holiday show. A list of those residents invovled in such displays could be developed and they might be interested in coordinating their efforts as true "Candlelighters."

Farmers market. To be held at the city park.

The City Park stage. A possible complement to the Pacific Ballroom as a public dance venue or as a place where people can sing.

City beautification. Auburn Riverside High School has a Key Club that is an adjunct to Kiwanis, which favors community service and development of young people. This is a potential resource for a city beautification program.

Food bank: Elizabeth's project is to gather food for the hungry during the 2000 holiday season, involving as many members of the community as possible.

Other suggestions

CPR training for babysitters: Giving babysitters CPR training would improve the professionalism of the sitters and the safety of the children. The Pacific Fire Department could be approached to provide the training.

Exercise Class, at the community center.

Cleaning the bike trail: The interurban trail could be kept clean. Perhaps it would be possible to persuade businesses to adopt portions of the trail and take responsibility for keeping their portion clean.
