CAPTAIN’S PENNANT

Combat pennants designating the battle experience of the ship's Captain may be flown
from the port outboard halyard. The number of vertical colored bands will indicate the

For each ten sorties one red band may be added. For fifty sortied one light blue band
may be added. For one hundred sorties one gold band may be added.

The pennant should be constructed of white paper 3/ inches high and 1 1

SUPPLEMENTAL DATA

SHIPS DATABASE

The Ships Database as maintained by the Ship Certification Committee is the
official document used to determining the Ship Class Designation (SCD). The
primary purpose of the SCDs is to provide a structure that allowsa reasonable
degree of equality between ship classes of different navies.

Documentation used to produce the database was the best available. When
reputable sources differed the results were averaged. Unreasonable trial speed
reports turned in on partially completed ships were not acceptablefor
determining the vessels operational speed. The Ship Database will be updated
whenever creditable information is obtained.

The Ships Database will be posted on the Queen’s Own Web Page.
