when presented documentation that confirms the requested change or variation is
within 5% or the required number. (The 5% Tech Variance is as applied to construction
mistakes. Example:for the inspection ofships. If its too short or too wide but with in
five percent of 1/72 scale it is considered legal.)

All requests for variances (except construction mistakes) must be made in writing.

MINES

Floating mines consist of not smaller than 3/8inch cork, plastic, or wooden spheres
attached to a string. The spheres are attached to the line at 12 to 24 inch intervals. The
basic floating string is limited to 8 feet in length and must be anchored on one end. The
anchor line must not float or present a hazzard to navigation. One string will equate to
75 mines as carried on the prototype ship. Vessles carrying 34 mines or less may only
carry a half a string (4’).

Mine floats will count as 1 barrel per string when evaluating “firepower” balance when
choosing up sides - unless declared “will not use” by the ‘side’ or Captain.

TORPEDOES

NOTE: Torpedos are only for use on 721 class vessels.

1. Torpedo maximum diameter is 1/4inch.

2. Torpedo maximum length is 6 inches.

3. Torpedo minimum length is 2 inches.

4. Maximum torpedo tube length is 12 inches. (Not including loader assembly. )

5. Torpedoes must have domed warheads.

6. All externally mounted torpedo tubes must be no longer than scale length plus
15%.

7. Torpedoes must fire from prototypical location.

8. Allowable number of torpedoes is one per tube and one for every documented
reload carried aboard.

9. Torpedoes may be fired from a single shot reloadable tube or from multiple
single shot tubes.

PUMPS

1. Any number of bilge pumps may be carried, however the combined rated
output of all pumps must not exceed the Gallons Per Hour overboard discharge
rate. All pumps must be certified and marked with the GPH capacity by a
Technical Officer

2. Internal pumping is not counted.

3. The overboard discharge rate is regulated by tonnage (See Class Descriptions).

RADIO CUT OFF SWITCH

1. All ships are required to have a radio cut off switch mounted so the ship's
radio may be turned on or off withoutdisassembling any part of the ship.

2. As of June 1, 1990 all radio equipment operated in combat eventsmust be in
compliance
with 1991 FCC standards.

3. All ship radio receivers will be fitted with a base loaded external antenna.

RADIO FREQUENCIES

Surface Only rado frequencies are assigned yearly to each member in good standing.
To maintain continunity of their frequency the member must pay their dues by the last
day of February. The member must also operate on that frequency in at least one event
prior to the Nationals. Non participating member may have their frequency reassigned.

In the event multiple members are assigned to a single frequency every effort will be
made to seperate them be geographical location and ensure all members on that
frequency are on the same side (Allied-Axis).

All ships must be operated on their assigned frequency during club functions. Ships
operating another than the assigned frequency will be given the lower operational
priority, or may not be allowed to operate.

FREQUENCY ASSIGNMENTS

Refer to the Queen’s Own Web Page for current frequency assignments

FIRE CONTROL / SINGLE SHOT WEAPON

As there is no rate of fire requirement currently in effect the vessels weapons
must be in compliance to pass technical certification.

1. All weapons must be single shot.

2. Fully automatic weapons (machine guns) are not allowed.

3. The weapon must only fire once when the fire control switch is activated.

MINE SWEEPING

The installation of single wire propeller guards (one per propeller) is approved for
Mine Sweepers. To carry this modification the ship must be an actual Minesweeper or
Destroyer Minesweeper (documented) with some type of device aboard to actually
clear a mine string.

Mine sweeping gear will count as 1 barrel perwhen evaluating “firepower”.

The propeller guard must not extend past the tiller post or extend deeper than
necessary to clear the propellers and rudder(s).
