Vancouver, WA -- The latest Horizon Air / Coaches' Polls have been released for volleyball and soccer.
Volleyball
Tacoma (0-0, 19-3) , who have reeled off a 9-1 record since the September 8th poll takes over at number one in this week's volleyball poll. Blue Mountain (0-0, 15-3) climbs four spots to second while Mt. Hood (1-0, 13-4) inches up from fourth to third this week. Spokane (0-0, 15-8) dips two spots and rounds out the top four.
Men's Soccer
The top two spots in men's soccer are somewhat unanimous with Chemeketa and Walla Walla, both finalist in the 2008 championship match, leading the pack. Chemeketa (1-0-1, 6-0-2) collected five first place votes to Walla Walla' (2-0-0, 4-0-0) three to take sole possession of the top spot this week after the squads tied for first in the initial poll. Bellevue (1-1-0, 4-3-0) moves up to third and Clark (2-0-0, 3-1-0) also climbs a notch to fourth.
Women's Soccer
As in the men's soccer poll, the top two team's in the women's poll battled for the championship in 2008 and so far are the clear favorites to repeat in 2009. Walla Walla (2-0-0, 4-1-0) collected five first place votes to take over the top spot from Columbia Basin (3-0-0, 4-0-0) who garnered three first place votes. Clackamas (3-1-0, 3-1-1) holds at number three for the second straight poll while Treasure Valley (3-0-0, 3-1-1) cracks the top four, moving up one from fifth last week.
