Mt Hood Saints Claim First Softball Title
Hadenfeld allowed just four hits and stuck out six as the Saints went on to a 5-1 win and their first NWAACC Championship. Mt Hood opened the bottom of the first with scores by freshmen Bre Thomas and Ari VanHorn off RBIs by sophomore Ashley Lokey and freshman Nicole Colpron. The Saints added another run in the third when Lokey stole second base - then scored during a Warrior throwing error to first. Colpron and freshman Lacey Olesen added two more runs for the Saints in the fourth off RBI singles by Colpron and VanHorn.
Hadenfeld, a 2007 NFCA-Louisville Slugger All-American selection, added a championship Tournament MVP to her impressive resume. Saint Head Coach Meadow McWhorter, who led her fourth seeded team to its first title, was selected as the NWAACC Softball Coach of the Year. The runner-up represents Walla Walla's best finish in the history of the school's softball program. Tournament Photos: View Tournament All-Stars
