Russ Snow named head coach for TVCC men’s basketball
Ontario, Ore. - Russ Snow has been selected to lead the Chukar Men’s Basketball team as head coach at Treasure Valley Community College.
Snow returns to TVCC after spending the past four seasons as the first assistant for The College of Idaho Women’s basketball Program. While there the team averaged over 20 wins a season, advanced to the NAIA national tournament, and finished the 2008-09 season ranked 15th nationally.
Snow started his coaching career at TVCC as an assistant basketball coach with the men’s program from 2002 through 2005.
A native of Lamar, Arkansas, Snow is a 1994 graduate of Middleton High School, in Middleton. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Excelsior College, Cum Laude. Russ is currently completing his Master of Arts degree in Athletic Administration from Idaho State University.
Snow is also an Operation Iraqi Freedom II veteran, where he served with the 1058th AF Gun Truck Company, attached to the 232nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He is currently a traditional guardsman with the Idaho Air National Guard, serving as a Staff Sergeant with the 124th Logistical Readiness Squadron.
“I am incredibly excited by the opportunity to return to Treasure Valley Community College,” Snow said. “The facility is one of the best in the NWAACC and TVCC’s Athletic Director, Ed Aronson, is very committed to building a winning program.”
Snow also said he is appreciative of the opportunity to come back to a place that gave him his start.
“TVCC has been the springboard that changed my entire life. As a former student here and also the place where I began my coaching career the lessons learned here have opened doors I never imagined,” Snow said.
“We are extremely pleased to get the opportunity to bring back Coach Snow as the head coach for men’s basketball at TVCC,” Aronson said. “Not only does Coach Snow have a tremendous amount of coaching experience, he also does an excellent job of recruiting. Our philosophy on recruiting starts in this local valley, from Eastern Oregon to Southwest Idaho,” Aronson added. “Coach Snow has the necessary network with the local high schools and coaches to recruit the type of student-athletes necessary to compete in the NWAACC and the type of students that we want to be a part of Chukar athletics.”
