The service at the Seattle Center Memorial Fountain was supposed to be a three hour
ceremony.
By noon, thousands of people had visited the center.
For the next 4 days the people came
leaving flowers, candles,
notes of condolences,
flags and prayers for healing.
By Tuesday night, the Memorial Fountain was filled with over 1 million flowers.
Next year, the Seattle Center will open a new memorial garden. One that will
bring joy from the tears of these flowers.
When the Mariners won the game and the American League West Championship, the team's thoughts, and prayers, turned to the victims in the East.
