Why join Team Acropolis instead of just riding on your own?
- According to the MS Society, team members tend to raise more money and win more prizes than individual riders.
- Corporate sponsors add credibility and excitement to our fundraising (
Center Cycle,
Advanced Metropolitan Dentistry and Pacific Orthotic Laboratory).
- Save 10% at
Center Cycle when you are a
Team Acropolis member.
- In 2004 and 2005, Team Acropolis corporate sponsors defrayed a good part of
the cost of customized team jerseys, and we expect to
do the same in 2006.
- The MS Society will provide us a Team Tent on Team Row, near the Beer Garden.
- Teammates are welcome to join optional Team Acropolis
training rides, many of which are followed by refreshments. We are fun to hang out with.
- Team Acropolis members plan to camp near each other during the event.
- Networking with team members to share tips on fundraising & cycling
- Team Acropolis is diverse, including ~60% women, a massage therapist, a nurse, a medical claims analyst, a flooring contractor, a writer, a rocket scientist, and other engineers.
- Team Acropolis features an expert bike mechanic, experienced ride leaders, and cyclists with racing & touring experience.
- Team Acropolis is developing customized fundraising aids for our own team: postcards, brochures, signs & flags for our bikes, easy to use electronic pledge forms & form letters for requesting pledges, stickers for MS Society brochures & posters, tip sheets, etc.
- Team Acropolis is putting on special fundraising events such as Poker Night. The proceeds will be converted into pledges for the riders.
- Team Acropolis also has a website hosted by the MS Society, which helps with fundraising
- Team Acropolis is getting lots of extra support from the MS Society -- they featured us on their "Team Spotlight" webpage, they provided "Ribbon of Hope" lapel pins, extra brochures & posters, etc., they send a representative to our team meetings, etc.
- Team Acropolis captain Amy Reiss is riding for Spruce Cox, a former colleague living with MS who also happens to be a motivational speaker. One of Spruce's speeches was a destination for a Team Acropolis
training ride. Spruce is very inspiring, and we can use his story to help with fundraising.
- It doesn't cost anything additional to be a team member. You are not obligated to participate in any team activities, but the team benefits from your fundraising.
- Easy online registration. Just enter "Team Acropolis" for team name and "Amy
Reiss" for team captain when you fill in the online form.
