Update for Wednesday, May 18

Well, it's been a couple of weeks since our last post, and a lot has been happening in the world of Katie Grace. We went to Lopez Island, in the San Juan Islands, for a few days and we all had a chance to relax and hang out. Here's a picture of Julie and Katie taking a nap on the sofa.

In between naps, Katie exercises- she does "tummy time" to help strengthen her arms and neck muscles. It's a tough workout, and in this photo, you can see that Katie outlasted her Grandma Teresa:

Katie has grown so much in the last two weeks - as of today, she weighs a whopping 7 pounds 13 ounces! She's grown so well that we expect her to be taken off the higher calorie formula after her checkup next week. Now that she's almost 8 pounds, we've finally traded in the car bed and Katie gets to ride in her huge, fancy carseat. Here's her first 'ride' in the living room:

Growing big has some perks - she's finally able to use her swing now with a little help from some blanket rolls. Amongst all the bells and whistles, can you find Katie?

We're also enjoying more awake time during the day. Yesterday I caught Katie and her Daddy talking. I couldn't resist taking a picture of their identical profiles:

We're happy to report another important milestone for Miss Katie. Even though May 13 was her 3-month birthday, Katie is also officially zero age now, as Monday the 16th was her due date. From this date forward, we'll be calculating Katie's adjusted age to monitor her developmental growth. So, we're very proud that we finally made it to this magic date.

As we sign off, here's a photo of our baby with her new blanket from her Grandpa. The bear has a very light 'heartbeat' that comforts Katie when she's napping.

Update for Tuesday, May 2

Hi Everyone! It's been a week now since Miss Katherine has come home. We're all doing very well, and it's been so much fun getting to know our baby. Katie had her last eye exam last week, and the doctor says that now her eyes are fully mature and she's no longer at risk for Retinopathy of Prematurity. Paul had been present at the first two eye exams, so he warned me about the gory procedure, but when the doctor asked ME if I was ready, that's when I knew I had to brace myself. Thankfully, the doctor was good and he finished the eye exam quickly. Katie and I are glad that her eyes are mature and we don't have to worry anymore about ROP.

There's not too much more to tell you. We're heading up to Lopez Island for a little vacation this weekend. Before we go, here's a picture of Katie from today. She's got her WubbaNub - a plush dog attached to a pacifier that gives her something to grab on to that helps her keep the pacifier in her mouth.
