Seattle Semiconductor operates under both “Time and Materials” agreements as well as “Fixed bid + Change Order billing” agreements.
Depending on the maturity of the concept design, we can quote our customers both type of agreements and work with customers to find a solution that works for all parties involved.
Generally we find that companies prefer to start small and ask us to do a short term feasibility study about the proposed design. This feasibility study (which we refer to internally as “Phase-I analysis”) usually includes cost estimates for any third-party IP as well as overall project cost and schedule estimates. Doing this short term analysis gives our customers a better feel about the design project they are embarking on and also gives them experience working with the team at Seattle Semiconductor.
