The Simpsons Season 5
The Simpsons Season 5 Review by Gareth Von Kallenbach

The fifth season of the worlds favorite animated family, The Simpsons, has arrived in a very impressive set from Fox Dvd..

The exploits of the animated family have become cultural icons and the shows catchphrases have become part of the everyday vernacular. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson are a middle class family who struggle with the day-to-day challenges of life in their hometown of Springfield. True, most of the situations they find themselves in are a result of one of Bart's misdeeds or Homer' poorly thought out motivations, but one thing is sure, the laughs are constant and the show is one of the best sources for political and social commentary ever created.

The fifthh season set contains all 22 episodes and some of the best moments in the shows ongoing history including the landmark 100th episode and a line from Groundskeeper Willie that for my money is the best line ever uttered on the show. . Standout episodes include "Cape Feare” and the return of Sideshow Bob, “The Last Temptation of Homer” and “Deep Space Homer” where Homer becomes an unlikely astronaut. The fifth season The set also includes the annual Halloween show where the cast skewer classic moments from Science Fiction and Horror in the timeless Simpson's style. There were several guest voices this year including George Harrison, Kelsey Grammer, and Michelle Pfeiffer to name just a few. Available subtitles: English, Spanish o Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 5.1), Spanish (Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo), French (Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo) o 22 episodes on four discs: Homer's Barbershop Quartet, Cape Feare, Homer Goes to College, Rosebud, Treehouse of Horror IV, Marge on the Lam, Bart's Inner Child, Boy-Scoutz N the Hood, The Last Temptation of Homer, Springfield, Homer the Vigilante, Bart Gets Famous, Homer and Apu, Lisa vs. Malibu Stacey, Deep Space Homer, Homer Loves Flanders, Bart Gets an Elephant, Burns' Heir, Sweet Seymour Skinner's Badasssss Song, The Boy Who Knew Too Much, Lady Bouvier's Lover, Secrets of a Successful Marriage o Commentary on all episodes, including Matt Groening, David Mirkin, James L. Brooks, and Conan O'Brien o Animation showcase o Audio intro with Matt Groening and montage o Commercials o Deleted scenes o Special language feature o Animatics o Illustrated commentaries o Audio outtake o Original sketches o A look back with James L. Brooks o Number of discs: 4

Easily the best Simpsons collection yet, and a must for fans of the show as it simply gets better with repeated viewings and each new released volume.

5 stars out of 5.
