Freedom Force Vs the Third Reich

Freedom Force VS The 3rd Reich 2 by Gareth Von Kallenbach

With the success of the first Freedom Force game and the runaway success of City of Heroes, Super Hero games are enjoying unprecedented success amongst gamers.

For years gamers struggled with games based on comics and films that all too often had mixed results and left gamers wanting. Thankfully Freedom Force versus the Third Reich continues the positive trend of quality comic inspired games.

Freedom Force once again has players in control of a small band of heroes as they battle all manner of villains to save the day. The game remains in a turn based role playing format, and as before the villains get progressively harder as the game unfolds.

With up to four players on a mission, combat is initiated by simply selecting a target and then the power they wish to employ. Naturally as players gain experience via collecting canisters, they increase in abilities, which will be needed for the ever more difficult foes that lay ahead. Missions are arranged with Primary and Secondary objectives and players will also be able to achieve various other objectives on a mission as well.

Visually the game is a treat as comic-style cut scenes propel the story and the detail level of the characters and their surroundings will make gamers believe as if they are right in the heart of the battle.

The in game sound is solid as everything from the background character voices to the distinctive voices of friends and foes fits, my favorites are the sounds created from some of the higher end powers in the game.

Freedom Force also allows players to create their own character and select not only a look but a starting set of powers. As any fan of City of Heroes can attest, being able to create and customize your heroic alter ego is lots of fun, and allows you to insert your personality into the game.

Freedom Force also features a good multiplay feature that allows players to co-op missions with one another. This can be great fun, but players with slower connections may experience lag.

In short, Freedom Force is a must for fans of comic book heroes and the RPG genre, there is very little to fault in this game, as it is non stop fun.
