Bunky is my challenging girl. We think she is 9 years old. I am her 4th owner, having "inherited" her (along with Boo) when my mother passed away, so we’re not sure about her exact age or history prior to 1993. Bunky is, to put it mildly, high strung. She is a beautiful dog that can usually be a very sweet angel. However, she can very easily freak-out and go into her "kleiner schwarzer Teufelhuendin" (little black devil dog) mode, as Mama used to call it. If she sees anything that attracts her attention (a bird, a squirrel, a leaf falling) it triggers a maniacal barking binge. She is ultra-territorial and protective. If a stranger actually dares to enter our home, she blows a fuse, and gets VERY excited. Unfortunately, she has nipped a few people while in this altered state. We are working on this, and she is slowly, slowly improving. She is difficult to discipline-we cannot use a choker chain as recommended by obedience school because she has had 3 (yes 3!) back surgeries. Therefore her back and neck cannot tolerate any pressure, jerking motion, etc. So, when company is present, Bunky is sometimes confined to her pen in the kitchen  (a very plush pen with sheepskin mat and fleece blankets!).

Behavior problems aside, Bunky is a fun, sweet dog. When she is with "her people" she is the most affectionate, playful, funny little dog you have ever seen. She loves to give kisses. She is always "on" - very alert and ready for action! Bunky makes me laugh every day.

MAJOR EVENTS in Bunky’s life include: being adopted by Anne in 1993, coming to live with Debbie in 1994, surviving 3 back surgeries (and still walking/running quite nicely), her endoscopy in 1999 - she had a gastric ulcer!

FAVORITE THINGS include: Debbie and Boo, food, being cuddled, barking, “deck patrol” in the summer, sheepskin stuffed toys, "Uncle Allen".

BUNKY HATES: cats/squirrels/birds, anything animal or human that dares come in/near her yard, the vacuum cleaner, and - worst of all - having her nails clipped!!!! When this happens she fights like a demon, and shrieks as if she were being boiled in oil!!!
