Brake as necessary to keep the line tight and out of the front wheel. If the rope gets in the front wheel, you will be thrown off the bike.
Always steer mostly towards the dogs. If you steer away from the dogs too much, they will pull the bike over and you will fall.
The bike will go where the dogs go, don't fight it too much.
If you are in danger of running into the dogs from behind, get to
either side.
Be prepared to take a fall to protect your dogs.
Anything is better than running over your dogs.
