SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
5:00 AM, Friday, September 20, 2002

We will be performing maintenance on our Edge and Core routers at our Portland Oregon facilities. This will involve moving a connection to our Seattle facility in order to add more redundancy to our network. During this time connections to our facilities in Portland will experience a temporary slowdown. Our expected downtime should not exceed 30 minutes. All services will be affected including DSL, Dial-up, and any traffic running through our Portland facility. This includes, but is not limited to, Portland, Vancouver, The Dalles, Hood River, and Tillamook.

On September 17 and 18th we will be moving Frame-Relay customers in the Seattle/Bellevue WA area over to a new host circuit. This is just one of the many things we are doing to consolidate and provide better service to our customers. Affected are those in the greater Seattle/Bellvue WA area that have Frame-Relay service though Northwest Link/Europa. Expected downtime for these customers is 5 to 10 minutes. This does not affect any of our dialup or DSL services.

NEW PUGET SOUND AREA DIALUP PHONE NUMBERS

NWLink.com changed the dial-in numbers that its Seattle area based subscribers have been dialing. This change occurred on January 31, 2002. At that time notification was sent to those that would be affected.

As part of our network consolidation away from US Net we are changing dialup numbers in the Seattle and Bellevue areas. The numbers we are asking customers to dial are:

  • Seattle: 206-812-0967
  • Bellevue: 425-974-0178
  • Everett: 425-609-9857
  • Olympia: 360-539-9857
  • Tacoma: 253-830-2135

These numbers are much more stable then the numbers that US Net asked you to change to earlier this year. We ask that you change immediately, if you need assistance with this change please contact our technical support department at 800-689-4303.

We have very recently installed additional capacity to accomodate this change and think you will like these numbers. If you have any problems we want to know about it and will be more then happy to help resolve them.

As always please check that the number you use is a local call to you.

ISSUES SENDING MAIL

Some users may experience issues with checking their e-mail. Our system, in a good majority of cases, requires that users check their mail first before attempting to send a message. This has been implemented to help in the fight against spam. (Unsolicited Commercial E-mail or UCE)

When you check your mail, your mail program (like Outlook Express) sends your login and password to the mail server, telling it you are OK to receive mail. When this happens, it adds you to a list that will then allow you to send mail. So if you can't check mail, you can't send and neither can spammers.

If you are having a problem sending e-mail, please try it again right after you receive an error.

Thank you,
