| Installations |

Cut & Paste People or Dismembers Only:
Peter Oppenheimer (Seattle * U.W. H.I.T. Lab)

Participants saw images of themselves transformed by the power of digital imaging into composite creatures from their wildest dreams.

Robots of the Future
The M.A.D. D.O.G. Collective: Lake Davis, Gregory Cosmo Huan, Igor Vamos (Portland, OR)

Photographer: Sabina Boehm

Every child's fantasy comes true; teddy bears can talk! Participants carried teddy bears between randomly scattered TV's. The teddy bears responded to the content of the programs on the TV's, from laughter at a commentary on the commodification of art to talking about how interactive technology can be used as a marketing tool...

D.I.G.A.M.E.
Woodrow Barfield, Craig Rosenberg, Eric S.Danas, Paul Schwartz, Ove Bjorneseth, and Wei Kow (Seattle, University of Washington Department of Industrial Engineering)

Balancing on a platform, groups of people had to make split-second decisions about how to move to navigate a rolling ball through a twisted video labyrinth.

Juggling Jukebox
Bret Battey and James Jay (Seattle)

Photographer: Sabina Boehm

A wired juggler was transformed into a musical vending machine. Insert money, choose a song, and wonder: What is human and what is machine?

Virtual Virtuoso
John L. Graham (Seattle)

Photographer: Sabina Boehm

Participants take the conductors baton to direct a virtual orchestra.

Interactive Musical Water Fountain
J. Michael Storie (Seattle)

Photographer: Sabina Boehm

The audience controlled an 50 nozzle fountain by stepping on keyboards or striking rhythms on drum pads. Pre-programmed accompaniments to music were also performed.

TelePaint
David Fodel of Art Lab (Boulder, CO)

Participants grabbed a virtual brush and made their mark on an electronic canvas with other on-line artists in the room.

Ornitorrinco in Eden
Eduardo Kac & Ed Bennett (Lexington, KY & Chicago)

Participants in Seattle and Lexington, Kentucky remotely controlled a tele-robot in Chicago with a touch-tone phone. The view from the robot's eyes was transmitted to the show over the Internet.

M.A.S.S. Communications:
Helen Lessick (Seattle)

Media Awareness and Sensitivity Survey. An artist's map and survey encouraged participants to reflect on the experience of Beyond Fast Forward.
