Everett True Information

Mr. Everett True was a cartoon character created by A.D. Condo and J.W. Raper in the early 1900's.

The Everett True cartoons are a model of narrative simplicity:

In Panel Number One, portly everyman Everett True's efforts to go about his business are inturrupted by another character's thoughtlessness or rudeness.
In Panel Number Two, Everett beats the living daylights out of the offending party.

The comic strip is remarkable in its two-panel simplicity, in the strength of illustrator Condo's linework (which anticipates Winsor McCay), and in the character's unrepentant cosistency. No one was safe from "The Outbursts of Everett True," as friends, relatives, business associates, perfect strangers, and officers of the law all felt the wrath of Everett's indignation.
